The record was based on information from a survey of 3, 500 consumers age 18 and old who live in the United States.
Just over half (55%) of participants say they are interested in giving or even receiving digital gift cards that could be added to a mobile app or even online wallet.
A few 69% of Millennial respondents state they are interested in giving digital present cards; 67% of Millennial participants say they are interested in receiving electronic gift cards.
Gift cards are usually most popular with married/common-law consumers, Millennials, loyalty program members, consumers whom earn more than $40, 000 each year, and households with children beneath the age of 18, the researchers discovered.
Only 42% of shoppers surveyed say they immediately make use of the gift cards they receive.
